Wealthy Affiliate Review: Can you Really Succeed?
Quick note: Since it’s well over 6 months that I’m a member, I’ve updated this Wealthy Affiliate University review with more in-depth information. The goal is to share with you the most genuine and throughout view on Wealthy Affiliate. 🙂
✓ The give-and-take comment system
✓ The build-in web host
This is the reason I put together this review/ guide. To help you make the most of it, and maybe even start an online business that pays the bill. Enjoy!
If there is one thing you should know about Make Money Online courses, is that 99.9% of them stinks. First, they hype you up into thinking you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars in a short period of time, then left you with some crappy third-rate program and absolutely no sign of social interactions.
That’s not Wealthy Affiliate.
Wealthy Affiliate is an online training and community that supports users to build a sustainable business through blogging, if applied correctly.
Here are some sweet results I got thanks to Wealthy Affiliate. I created a post called “108 Experts Give Advice to New Bloggers” that’s shared 690 times…
… by my admiration like Jon Morrow. No less!
Ultimately, I made my first sale!
I’m not the only one.
Other fellow members like Paul Goodwin made up to $3,000 in 3 months, while Eddy Salomon even managed to earn a full-time income from home.

This is the best thing that has ever happened to me because I have worked my way to number 4 in the WA system and have also sold about 3,000 USD worth of my product since Christmas and my website has been going only five months.
I have also now increased my daily site viewers from 60 to 281 and this is by listening to the help and support from the group.
Work at Home no Scams
Notice I said “if applied correctly”. Wealthy Affiliate is simply a great training and tool to learn online marketing (with a few shortcuts), but it’s not magic.
In this Wealthy Affiliate review, I’m not going to try to sell the training to you. I will simply show you what it is and my experience with it, and let you decide for yourself if this is what you’re looking for.
What is Wealthy Affiliate University?
Wealthy Affiliate University – also known as Wealthy Affiliate, is an online marketing community founded by entrepreneurs Kyle (on the right) and Carson (on the left), dedicated to help members create and run a successful online business.
With over 100k users, Wealthy Affiliate becomes more than a simple space to learn, but also one of the most active and supportive online marketing community on the internet. Which happens to be its’ most valuable selling point.
Wealthy Affiliate was created as an initiative to help other people succeed online.
First of all, to find out whether this is worth your time, we need to know what kind of people would benefit from Wealthy Affiliate. Then we’ll look at every aspects that define this online training such as
Who is Wealthy Affiliate for?
The first question you need to ask yourself before you jump into something like Wealthy Affiliate is how serious are you with building a business (online, in this case) of your own.
This means investing a decent amount of time, energy and money into it before ever seeing results.
If you prefer a quick solution. I would recommend something much simpler than Wealthy Affiliate such as applying for a good old part-time job or sell your skills on freelance sites like Elance or PeoplePerHour.
That said, if you can relate to any of the following sentences:
- I want to turn my hobby into an additional income,
- I want to monetize my blog,
- I love a good challenge,
- I want to create a passive income stream.
… then there is a huge chance that you’ll love Wealthy Affiliate.
What to expect from Wealthy Affiliate
In a market full of unrealistic plugs like Make Money Online, it’s crucial to know what you can, and can’t expect from a product. If you still daydream of making thousands overnight, then what you’re going to read will likely surprise or better, amaze you.
Because Wealthy Affiliate is unlike anything you’ve seen before, right from the core of their business ethics.
Wealthy Affiliate on “making money online”
In this review, I’d like to take a different approach by looking at Wealthy Affiliate’s purpose and beliefs, because I trust we can only love a service if they believe in what we believe.
So this is Wealthy Affiliate’s homepage.
Compare that to the typical Make Money Online courses.
For one, Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t promote “weird tricks” they use to make $3,500 per month. Instead, they focus on passion, comfort and freedom.
Another note is that it has an inviting sleek and modern design, not an old Web 1.0 style. In fact, Wealthy Affiliate does not look like a sales page but a social network for online marketers.
A homepage conveys a lot about any company’s true value.
Our focus is teaching you how to create a successful, long-term business within the online space.
For Wealthy Affiliate, it symbolizes their realistic yet inspirational approach to online marketing. They never tell you there is a secret to wealth and happiness, or that you can quickly build a sustainable business using their service.
The training and support
While values are great, you can’t create anything with only promises. Let’s take a look at Wealthy Affiliate’s training and support.
This means that everything you do now, and every step you take will contribute towards your personal success in the future.
Wealthy Affiliate offers five courses from beginner to advanced, designed for you to go from one to the other until you reach level 5.
Level 1: Getting Started
Level 2: Building your Own Traffic Producing Website
Level 3: Making Money!
Level 4: Mastering Social Engagement
Level 5: Achieving Maximum Success through Content Creation
To start Wealthy Affilliate’s training, simply hit the “Get Started Here” button on the top left corner.
Each of these courses contain 10 throughout lessons, accompanied with video guides.
The best part is that you have a checklist at the end of each lessons, which makes the course a lot more actionable and fun.
One more thing, below the checklist is a comment section that you can use in case you have any questions. Despite the fact that there are over 100k comments, you’ll actually receive a quick reply since all questions are featured on Wealthy Affiliates’ homepage.
This is just one of the many ways to seek help on Wealthy Affiliate. If your question is not course related, just submit a stand-alone query or simply chat in the Live Chat section.
Or even seek the site owners if you have a taste for that.
Let me guess, you’re thinking “well, owners of a relatively popular product like Wealthy Affiliate won’t have time for you.” Before joining Wealthy Affiliate, I thought the same.
But not Kyle and Carson. They’d even go out of their ways to talk to you.
I’ve found it’s easiest to seek help on Wealthy Affiliate is through the quick search tab on top of the page.
You can search the whole site to make sure if someone has already answered your question, if not fill in the form on the bottom of the search results and hit “Ask your question”.
Now that you’ve learnt all there is to know about the training and support on Wealthy Affiliate, I’m going to throw in a towel of controversy: I don’t follow their training anymore.
Because let’s face it, with the boom of content marketing, you can find just as good, even better guides on online marketing for free.
And sure, the support is great but most Wealthy Affiliate members are learning the ropes like you — basic technical questions are okay, but real pain points like “how to get more traffic to your blog” and “how to rank on Google” may not receive satisfactory answers.
Then what would keep members for over half a year, even going as far as visiting the site every day?
Well, Wealthy Affiliate is not just a training. It’s also an one-of-a-kind tool.
The tools (or shortcuts)
SiteComments is the only platform in the world where you can get real comments, from real people who are interested in your type of website.
To further prove their user-oriented solution, Wealthy Affiliate boasts a handful of useful tools that will surely make any blogger’s life easier. Here are my favorites:
- WordPress web hosting — while you can easily rent a reliable web host for less than $4 a month. It helps to have your site and community in one place. And of course, this adds more value to Wealthy Affiliate’s offer.
- SiteComments — Wealthy Affiliate helps me gather over 1,340 thoughtful comments to my blog by the time of this post. What I love about SiteComments is that it’s a simple give-and-take system, nothing automated or shady.
- Keyword Research — a straightforward keyword research tool that helps you save time and money on setting up the Google Keyword Planner.
- SiteFeedback — a tool to give and take feedbacks for your blog. It’s good to use it at first, then you’d also want to develop your own style.
Wealthy Affiliate is not all about quick support, it’s also a lively community of over a hundred thousand members.
The little feed on Wealthy Affiliate’s homepage summarizes this nicely.
Here’s an insider’s look.
I learnt to appreciate the Premium membership because it helps gather the people who are worth hanging around, not freeloaders only looking to benefit themselves.
The social network aspect of Wealthy Affiliate is so crucial because, like starting any new adventures, you don’t want to be on your own. You want to know someone has your back and shares the journey.
At least, this is what Wealthy Affiliate means to me.
Can you succeed with Wealthy Affiliate?
You should know better than me.
Sorry for being brutally honest there. But the truth is as much as I don’t know how long it’ll take you to learn Japanese, I don’t know how long it’ll take you to master online marketing.
In fact, only 17% of bloggers were able to sustain their lifestyle or support their family.
I’m not here to give you false hope.
For some, it takes a month to see results…
Others takes 4 months…
Or up to 6 months.
Some even ended up realizing money is not what they are looking for.
As I worked through the training however, Wealthy Affiliate became a place that built confidence. I became more confident in my writing skills, along with the skills I learned in the training.
This surprised me.
It kept me on a high the first 3 months, with that sense of expectancy of what would come through Google, through Amazon, through networking, even through ranking. It was all very exciting for a newbie.
Follow your gut.
If Wealthy Affiliate feels right, go ahead and sign up for a free account – you have nothing to lose.
Then upgrade to Premium if the training and community helps. If not, find something else.
As long as you don’t give up, you’ll find a way.
Price and membership
Wealthy Affiliate offers two pricing plans: a free Starter and a Premium membership at $49 per month (the good news is that you can get Wealthy Affiliate’s Premium for only 50% off.).
The Starter membership is ideal for new users to experience Wealthy Affiliate at no cost at all. For the first 7 days you are free to use all Premium features, then you’re limited to
- Only access the Level 1 course,
- No access to Live Chat,
- Create only up to 2 websites,
- No access to SiteComments and SiteFeedback.
Aside from being limited to 2 websites, you also can’t host your own domain name (i.e. Bloggingthing.com) and has to choose a your-site.siterubix.com domain instead.
While you can use a siterubix.com extension domain for as long as you want, later upgrading to your-site.com in the future will hurt your traffic and search engine rankings. If you are even slightly serious about your business, you need to consider upgrading or buying a domain name within Wealthy Affiliate.
The best part about Wealthy Affiliate’s Premium membership is that it opens up the whole social side of the platform. A few key features are:
- Freely chat and blog,
- Personal support from Kyle and Carson,
- Create and fully control up to 50 websites,
- Access to SiteComments.
Some claims you can make money with the Starter membership, but I think the chances are slim.
If you’re not ready to invest in Wealthy Affiliate, you’d better host your blog for $3.95 per month on a good web host like BlueHost, then read
You’ll learn much more about online marketing then with Wealthy Affiliate’s free membership.
Wealthy Affiliate cons
Here are some things to look out for
- Wealthy Affiliate doesn’t offer Free memberships in certain countries like Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines and Vietnam. So if you’re in these countries (like me), you’ll have to purchase a Premium membership to start using the platform.
- This one is personal, I found that I prefer to follow marketing strategies from blogs like QuickSprout and Backlinko than Wealthy Affiliate. I only use Wealthy Affiliate as a tool and community to fall back on. This goes to show that Wealthy Affiliate’s method is not a one-size-fits-all.
We agree and disagree on the same things so I’ve asked a few members: “What do you think of Wealthy Affiliate?”

When I first joined I was not sure if they were for real because it just did not seem possible they way everyone offered to help. I knew absolutely nothing about building a website or selling a product and so I just did not know how it would work.
Wealthy Affiliate is like a family and it is the best family that anyone could wish to be a part of.

All I know about website development, Search Engine Optimization and the influence Google, Bing, and Social Media have on the visibility of my websites, I learned by following the easy step-by-step classes on Wealthy Affiliate.
The tutorials are very thorough and to the point. For new people, Wealthy Affiliate can be very overwhelming. Not really a shortcoming, but sometimes a reason to quit. But once they are settled and have learned to take advantage of the available question bar, they get reassured when they find answers from other members on their question.
It’s not an online scam that promises you to make money overnight but a legit website that teaches you all the skills to become a successful online marketer!
Making an Income Online
About the only shortcoming that I can see with Wealthy Affiliate University is all the emails that I have to respond to. While I can limit the number of emails that I receive, we are ranked based on participation. My rank was 42 and now I am at 60. Even though the rank isn’t going to make me any money, my rank is still important to me.
I would recommend Wealthy Affiliate University to anyone. It has changed my life in many ways. Wealthy Affiliate University has the power to change people’s lives for the better.
Work at Home no Scams
At 4-5 months out, my ranking improved to Ambassador where I have been for the last 100 days. I have come to care about and look forward to my Wealthy Affiliate family and the camaraderie we share daily. It has become part of a regular routine.
At 5-7 months out, I have begun a shift, where I am using my website as a vehicle to pursue my passion of health and wellness. What I have learned about myself in this journey is that I cannot pursue money, it does not fit with who I am. I have to pursue things that I love and feel in my heart is right for me. Whenever I have tried to go after something for the sake of money it never comes to fruition. I must heed what this is telling me.
So I am continuing to grow my skills and my online presence. I am putting together a Summit which is a collection of interviews of 21 health experts to go over the topic of my niche which is Revitalize Your Metabolism. This summit is filled with tremendous information that my ideal customer can use and put into practice right away and all I am asking since it’s free is their email address.
While I continue to blog at Wealthy Affiliate, I am taking what I have learned here and using it in my next chapter which is to drive traffic to my email list.
I vividly remember the desperation searching for a way — any way to live a life on my own terms.
Not that I hate my 9 – 5 job, it’s just too boring. Right when I lost hope that there are any good training on online marketing, I stumbled across Wealthy Affiliate. $49 is not a small amount to me, on top of that I didn’t have the chance to try it for free. But I took the plunge anyways.
Fast forward 6 months later, I achieve some results and more than that, had the chance to interact with industry leaders like Joe Pulizzi, Michael Stelzner and Neil Patel. None of this would have happened if not for Wealthy Affiliate.
While Wealthy Affiliate is not magic, it can change your life.
And I highly recommend Wealthy Affiliate to anyone who wants to make a difference.
Feel free to drop a comment if you have any questions about Wealthy Affiliate. I’ll try my best to answer!
