3 Fundamentals to Build Your Online Business

Does make money online sound like a far-fetched dream to you? I know it was for me before I started my journey of learning and meeting people who are actually making money and some millions on the internet.

And I am not talking about Facebook, Twitter or YouTube etc.

But the regular one man team guys… like me and you. Chances are we’ve heard of the internet successes, or we just frequent the internet a lot until one day we decided instead of wasting time and money on games and chats, we are gonna make some. Better, we’re gonna become millionaires!

Wait right there, before you start anything look at these tips. Trust me, they will save you a lot of nerves and bad investments.

1. Do not believe in the 1,000$ a day promises.

This sounds like the obvious, doesn’t it?
When you started out and typed “make money online” on Google, you will encounter a lot, and I mean a lot, of offers like “make money online fast”, “make money online easy”.
Do they sound phony to you? Yes, they do but there are the what-ifs… and the hope, right? I got that, me too.

The thing is, there are a lot of scams and misinformation in the sector of internet business. Usually it’s best to call it quit on all the programs and systems that tries to sell you big dreams (like a 1,000$ a day without doing anything), instead look for genuine contents that said you making money on the internet takes effort and time to learn, like any skills. That is true, and yes, there are such content on the web, for the sake of consistency, I will mention that in the following posts!

2. It is gonna take efforts, a lot of efforts.

Yes, you heard me right. You will have to work for the carrots, don’t expect it to fall from the trees. I know I spend a lot of energy and brain power on this business, it may differ from people to people as well. I will be telling you everything I know and what have worked for me so hopefully you can leverage on that.

Anyways, what I mean is if someone offers you easy carrots from trees, go back to #1.
Take this. This is an example of real money online, you can make around 0.5 cent to 1$ when completing surveys for companies out there. Yes, you will have to take around 150 of them in order to earn more than 100$. Pretty tough and time consuming, isn’t it? That is what legit money online requiring minimum intellectual abilities sounds like.

20 to $40 dollars per survey. Sounds legit, lol.

20 to $40 dollars per survey. Sounds legit, lol.

Okay, so how come there are online multimillionaires, are you telling me they scrapped their asses off on these surveys for 1$? That is not what they did. From what I found, aside from people who sells their own products, there is another promising way to generate large sums of money on the internet, that is called affiliate marketing. You can google that.

Someone told me this: Rome wasn’t built in a day… but they were laying bricks everyday.

3. Treat your internet business like a business.

Analyse your responses, statistics, work on your contents, learn and improve your marketing skills, build connections, impose yourself as an authority in the business etc.

It’s really not a question of whether making money online is possible or not, you clearly know it is. In case you don’t google is your friend. It’s a question of whether you are gonna make it or not. This is actually not a hard business, as you can see, the successful guys Pat Flynn, Jeff Walker or Ewen Chia are all people with poor backgrounds, who probably suck more at using a computer than you.

This by no means make this an easy goal like some would want you to believe, easy is a subjective term. What I mean is you really gotta want it bad enough. Sure, you might fail on a couple of trials, granted, you might even fail with the exact method someone used to succeed.

Things could definitely become stressful and discouraging. You need to find what’s right for you personally, work on trials and errors and put your mind into it. Don’t be half-hearted.

Actually, right now, make a choice. Answer the following questions in the comment section below:

  1. How much money do you expect to make online?
  2. How much time are you willing to spend to achieve that goal?

Promise me that you are gonna take the actions needed to get there, and most importantly you won’t quit when things get tough.

In the following posts I will be giving you the resources and the hows. There are a lot of blogs about making money online as you’ve already known, but not all of them are genuine. I mean I do think you can learn from anything, but I don’t like to go into spaces with people trying to sell stuffs to my face, I kinda feel used, I bet you do too.

Pat Flynn is someone I follow and if you haven’t heard of him yet, he’s a real cool multimillionaire affiliate marketer who is not shy to share his methods and revenue.
Of course you wouldn’t know where to go without directions, read my article about The Best Way To Make Money Online here to get yourself started!

To seriously make money online, follow these words. I advise you to read them back from time to time for directions and motivations.

Starting out in this business, hell in anything, is not easy, especially if you are on your own, there are tons of information out there and looking at them all would cause some serious information overload (yes, I have been there!) so it’s better to find some good resources and stick to just one method. Focus is key.

Great post, Anh, on the reality of earning an income in the online marketing world.

As you so accurately mention, there are a lot of scams out there. Perhaps even more than in the real world.

It’s so easy to hide behind a screen and fake picture. I agree that whenever you come across a $1000.00 a day scheme, you should run like hell!

All easy money on automatic pilot is another scheme type to be avoided. After a while, they get very boring, but worst is that they are a complete WASTE of your precious time.

Success on line is similar to the real world. Lots of hard work. Best to find something you love and enjoy the journey.

So very well said, Paul! When I first started, it was quite frustrating to find SO many hypes about how making money online is like some sort of money-making fairy tale. When in truth it’s just a business model like any other, and loving what you do is so important in the equation, too. I completely agree with you. 🙂

    Hi Anh,

Such good tips you’ve provided there. I am a believer for ‘success can’t come overnight’ principle (although there may be some exceptions).

I always raise my awareness to the max when seeing some promotion that promise you to earn high income despite of the little efforts.

Thank you for reminding me about how to become success when making money online.

    • Anh Nguyen

Alblue, it’s a pleasure to hear from you! Happy these tips inspired you. I am sure you are on the right track. 🙂

  3. Christine

I have come across your website because I was looking at ways to make money online. I have heard about a lot people making large sums of money online and wanted see how they do it.

You have given some very interesting information in your article. I have tried taking surveys online but the reward for the time spent doing them, my time is more valuable than that.

I look forward to reading further on how you are making money online.

    • Anh Nguyen

Christine, it’s great hearing from you. I agree that taking surveys for money is not a very good investement time-wise. It doesn’t really help you develop or earn more in the long run.

  4. Dave Sweney

Thanks for your straightforward approach here and the tips you provide in your post… I agree that money is there to be made, but an effort and business approach is required to make it work well…

I would be interested to know what percentage of people that attempt online marketing actually make it to the point where they can sustain their lifestyle through the income realized… Do you have any stats on this? Thanks!

    • Anh Nguyen

Hi Dave, very interesting question you have here. I actually have not done researches on that, which I will now. Here is a statistic I found, done by a leading internet marketing training website on its’ members:

75% of people who consider themselves to be intermediate or advanced internet marketers still make less than $1000 a month from their online business after 2 years.

It’s quite alarming, isn’t it? Making money online isn’t something as easy as the internet make it out to be… Here is the full article 75% Of Internet Marketers Make No Money? It’s an interesting read with a good lesson to it. I hope this helps, and thank you for your contribution. I will add this to the post. Three really important tips here for newbies to scan over before they start to work online. I think the most important factor you have covered is the amount of effort you need to put in. A lot of people think you just post content and that’s it – big mistake! It takes A LOT of content to get ranked well in Google.

    • Anh Nguyen

Yes, Chris, good point there. I think this problem lies in the ads they see, you know about “making 10,000 in 3 months without doing anything”. In the end, an online business is still as business.

  6. Tina

Hi Anh, I love your site, where did you get the idea for the name of Perkprofit? its so easy to remember, I love the personal photo of you and your dad on your about me page, your site is not only helpful for people who want to start their own business but you break it down so the readers can understand, keep up the good work.

    • Anh Nguyen

      Hi Tina,

I am glad to hear, your comment is very inspiring. About where Perkprofit came from, I pondered a lot because I wanted it to be something interesting and have a domain for it. Creating a brand name is an interesting topic, actually. I would like to go into more details about it sometimes.

Basically, this is the method I used, you start by brainstorming words related to your topic (i.e. the topic is make money online, the words could be money, cash, profit, big, affiliate, marketing etc.) and then match them up together for new ideas.

I use this site to search for available domains, it’s very fast and handy

I’ll remember to tell my dad you like him, lol.

      All the best.

  7. Damian

Awesome content my friend. You did a great job of helping people identify the false promises out there, which I think is what usually turns people away from making money online. There are legit ways to do it, but it does take work. Just like any other business, you need to develop and grow. But the rewards can be exponential. Thanks for the post!

    • Anh Nguyen

      Thanks Damian,

I know when starting out, a lot of us would feel overwhelmed and now knowing where or what to turn to. I would like to give the newcomers some good directions… there are just too much make money online scams out there.

      All the best!

  8. Luke

Yes, you’re right, internet is full of scammers.

They create poor products which are not worth much. People spend money on them and then achieve poor results or no results at all.

Usually you cannot expect to learn much from a $7 product. Good knowledge costs a lot more. So if I see something that costs a few bucks and all those big promises in the sales letter I quickly close the page.

Without affiliate marketing much fewer people would be making any money online, including me.

Eventually only those who are persistent achieve success.

    • Anh Nguyen

Very nice insight Luke, even if you bought the best make money online program with great action-driven training and constant support… it’s still up to you to really persist and drive through the hard times.

About product choices, I think there is more than just the price that determines its’ quality. I’m pretty sure you know this already, it’s important to look for reviews and do some researches in order to determine the worth of a product.

      All the best!

Just found your website and I think it's very interesting. I've been struggling with making some cash online for a few weeks now and it's definitely not a piece of cake. I have also read books from different guys who actually became rich using the net but somehow I just can't achieve the same thing. What I mean is that I can totally relate with what you said.
Can't wait to read more from you and good luck.

    • Yes, this is a blurry topic and without good resources, you just kind of get a bunch of information flew into your face… It takes time but if you persist (while following the tips I wrote above) you will definitely succeed.
You can share with me what you have tried etc. and I will do my best to give my thoughts on them!

I will write more about the methods that works for me. Also I have added a Subscribe button where you can get my new posts in your email once they are out!
Thanks and have a good day.
