How my New Blog Attracts 526 Comments

Last update February 28th, 2016

Anyone with minimum computer skills can own a blog.

But the real question is among 173MM blogs worldwide, how is your blog gonna get noticed, and why would people bother leaving a comment?

If you a blogger, you will know that getting 5 comments is already hard. Even big blogs like ProBlogger and The Smarth Passive Income struggle with constant user interactions. And they have thousands of visitors per month.

In this post I will share with you how my blog, that’s only three month old, already has 526 comments (263 unique comments because half of them are my replies).

Bloggingthing Dashboard - Number of Comments

With this method you can get as much quality comments as you want if you put in the time and efforts. Here are a few comments I receive daily.

Let’s dive in!

The benefits of comments

Aside from cheering you up, comments can do much more for your blog.

  1. Increase interaction. People are more likely and more comfortable commenting on spaces where others are already interacting as opposed to an empty corridor, it’s a kind of social proof.
  2. Prove your presence and expertise. By having comments and answering them, you will have a better image in the eyes of your new visitors.
  3. Set good commenting standards for your blog. When someone plans to comment on your blog and see what kind of feedbacks you are getting, they will tend to emulate it. So by setting a good standard for your blog you will be more than likely get better comments later from organic visitors.
  4. Helps you rank on Google in the long run. Having interactive conversations on your site will increase Google’s trust and help you rank on them.

In fact, QuickSprout claimed that 16% of their search traffic came from comments.

Before we start

There are a couple of things you need to know.

  • This method is fore serious bloggers because it requires investment in Wealthy Affiliate – an educational program about online businesses (read my review). The price is $47/month or $359/year. But you can still try for free for 7 days!
  • This method doesn’t help you build traffic. You will have real people come to your page and give comments but that is pretty much it, they may not be part of your target audience.
  • This method requires some time and efforts. You can get as much comments as you want but you will have to make some efforts, because this is a commenting exchange platform where you will offer comments to other in order to request them on your site.
  • Your website needs to be hosted on SiteRubix. SiteRubix is basically a host for WordPress, the best content management system (CMS) on the internet. You can also import your site to SiteRubix as well (more about that later).

How my new blog attracted 148 comments

This method is much simpler when exposed, I am sure anyone can follow.

Step 1. Sign up to Wealthy Affiliate

As mentioned above, this is a program that’s built by Wealthy Affiliate so in order to join, you’ve gotta have an account.

Wealthy Affiliate - Sign up

Sign up to Wealthy Affiliate

Wealthy Affiliate does have a free membership plan but it will not allow you to give and receive comments, that’s why this method needs investment. You don’t need to pay for the first 7 days to use the premium features, so make the most out of that offer. It’s also a good chance to try and see if Wealthy Affiliate and blogging in general is for you.

P.S. Take some time to complete your profile with a picture and short description, this will help you look better in the eyes of other members, and will prompt them to take you more seriously and give you better comments.

Step 2. Build your blog

If you are confident you can build a blog on your own, click here to write your first blog post or here to attract comments. I still recommend you to come back here later because I will be giving some pretty useful resources.

You already have a blog and consider importing to SiteRubix to use Wealthy Affiliate? Click here.

Now it’s time to build your blog with Wealthy Affiliate’s site manager, SiteRubix, which is the same as a WordPress site. You will be managing your site from your own domain… which I like.

Own domain

Wealthy Affiliate is a good program that teaches you how to start a business online. My advice is to click on the Get Started Here button on the top right and follow Kyle’s step-by-step instructions to build a blog. There are also videos, for those interested… (but I am pretty sure most of you computer geniuses don’t need that, ha ha.)

Here are some extra tips and tricks to building a blog on WordPress (that is not taught at Wealthy Affiliate) that I want to share with you, to make your blogging life easier and more rewarding.

  • Find stock images and icons. Here is a very big list of free stock websites 74 Best Sites To Find Awesome Free Images.
For icons, go to FlatIcon (a lot of basic black icons) or IconFinder (colorful icons). Remember to check creative commons and give credits when asked.
  • Have a personal site icon, you’ll look very unprofessional without one. Go pick it at FlatIcon or IconFinder.
  • Edit images when you are not a designer. Use online image editors like Pablo (simple to put words on images) or Canva (more advanced).
  • Follow influencers’ blog to improve your knowledge and jot down statistic numbers. For starters, check these Top 5 Personal Internet Business Blogs. Then use Feedly to be updated of new posts and check them daily.
  • Beware of what you delete and back up before any major changes. Think twice before you delete something, and remember to backup before changing your theme or updating WordPress. I use the UpdraftPlus plugin to back up my files.
You’ve already have a blog and wants to import it to Wealthy Affiliate while keeping all your datas? Go to your site manager and hover over the Tools section, click on Import.

Import blog section

Then you’ll see a panel that allows you to choose where to import your site from (i.e. Blogger, WordPress, Tumblr etc.)

If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to message me. I can be reached through the comments or at

Step 3. Write your post

Next you need to create at least one post in order to attract comments to.

This is also taught on Wealthy Affiliate. Now I really like Wealthy Affiliate, it has a great community and driven courses but I think Kyle doesn’t talk much about how to write a good post. I feel like he’s more inclined to let you explore writing on your own.

Here I want to give you some extra tips and resources to improve your posts.

  • Know what to write about. In order to write a great contents, that attracts viewers and social shares, you need to know what they want. Check out this an insightful podcast How Do You Know What Content To Create? by Fizzle and Brian Dean’s Skyscraper technique.
  • How to write a blog post. Writting content isn’t hard, writting good content is. Read How to Write a Blog Post by HupSpot and remember to download their blog templates. I use their how to template to structure parts of this post… it makes life easier.
  • Use relevant statistics, having some numbers makes your claim more believable and professional. But don’t overuse this. Google is your friend, search for “topic + statistics”. I also compiled a bunch of infographics on my Pinterest.

Step 4. Offer comments

Why would you comment on other’s blog, you ask. Wealthy Affiliate offers a little platform they call the SiteComments where you can basically give and take comments from others. And that is basically all this method is about. You will be able to request 1 comment to your page for each 2 comments you give, pretty simple, isn’t it?

After you’ve created your first post, now is the time to get some comments! Simply hover over the SiteRubix button then click on SiteComments.

You will be offered a tour, go through it and carefully read through this section about commenting best practices, you want to provide good comments to receive great ones.

You can request 1 comment for each 2 credits, which means giving 2 comments to request one. Since you don’t have any credits yet, click on Offer Comments.

Offer comments on post on Wealthy Affilaite

Nice, you have 1 credit now, time to earn another.

When commenting, you also want to create connections. Maybe they are not as interested in your topic, but remember they are commenters like you too so if you give them nice comments, they will be more likely to give back to you.

P.S. Remember to create a Gravatar so that an avatar will show up on each of your comments. If needed, check this guide here on how to set up your Gravatar account.

Step 5. Request comments

Congratulations, give yourself a pat on the back for going through all the steps. Now it’s time for you to receive your comments.

Request comment from Wealthy Affiliate

It usually takes about 30 minutes before you will receive an email that goes like this “New Comment for is Pending Approval at WA!”, go check your comments.

Received comments

Now it’s time to hit that Approve and Reply button to answer your comments and show that you are an active blogger.

End note

And we’re done! I hope this gave you good insights on one of the ways you can do to improve your site quality and image.

This is not a method that’s automated so you will have to commit your time and effort in order to grow your website comments. The good thing about Wealthy Affiliate SiteComment feature is that it tends to over deliver a lot. Take a look.

Comment history

To make the most about these comment exchanges is to request 1 comment daily and offer 2 comments. Go at your own pace and don’t force yourself, be friendly and open. Take your time to help others and they will be much more likely to give you a hand.

I think this method is great to give you a head start and help you develop your blog more quickly, but remember that you still to build your own audience, ranking and SEO to really become and authoritative and profitable website. Consider this a easy stepping stone on your path, don’ rely on this method as your only source of traffic in the long run.

So that’s it for today! If you need any more help on anything, do not hesitate to buzz me. I can be found on PerkProfit through the comments, through my email or even my profile at Wealthy Affiliate. I am online everyday… you’re right, I am kind of nerdy. Ha ha.

Anyone who is willing to put in the time and effort can succeed with a blog. When I say succeed, I mean earn a full-time income without a job or a boss. With advanced skills, they can earn much more.

The internet is the greatest opportunity ever. Your explanation of blog and comments is excellent and I was pleased to see you mentioned Wealthy Affiliate. That’s where I learned all I needed to succeed online.

Wealthy Affiliate is also the only affordable and ethical place I know that offers the support and training to make money online.

    • Anh Nguyen

Thanks, Gary! I sure am grateful that these is a place like Wealthy Affiliate out there. 🙂

  2. Martin-Joe Oforka

To be frank, am heading to Site comments now.
What a great post you have here. Very educative, and full of information given in the best practical step by step modality.
I must say, I am a member of WA also and I have never found a program like it. It is just amazing in its stunning uniqueness and wealth of information. I do not think twice about recommending it.

    • Anh Nguyen

      Very nicely said, Martin!

  3. Nate

    Hi Anh,

I’m also a member at Wealthy Affiliate, they do have a great vehicle to help you get comments on your blog posts.

The beauty is that the way the community works is that you always get quality comments as well. We all know (and for those who don’t) that Google look highly upon engagement with posts when giving out rankings so the more comments the better and this is one of many key things that Wealthy Affiliate assists with!

    • Anh Nguyen

Yes, Nate, I’m glad to hear you’re using Wealthy Affiliate to it’s full potential.

  4. Xander

    Hi Anh,

I really enjoyed your post and it was nice and easy to read and follow. I myself am part of this community and I have to say that it has helped me a lot and I have been slowly been getting more organic traffic to post that I focus on using the comments.
I have come across some info that has said that to comments to traffic ratio does play a role in your ranking. What is your opinion on that?

    • Anh Nguyen

Xander, I think that comments in itself doesn’t play as big a role in your ranking compared to other factors like traffic ratio, time on site or backlinks since they can so easily be diplicated. SEO should not be your main goal to getting a heap of comments.

  5. Jared

You do a really good job of walking someone through the process of building a blog and blog traffic. Anyone could take your guide and do the same. Given your results, it appears that the investment in Wealthy Affiliate is certainly worth it! I have had success with websites in the past, but this should put me over the top when it comes to the social interaction I need to get Google’s attention.

    • Anh Nguyen

      I happy to help, Jared!

  6. Chris Cucchiara

526 comments is heck of a lot, great work! As I write this I assume that number is a lot higher! I learned some stuff from this article, I always really though comments where just that, comments, but I didnt know they had SEO and ranking power until I started really delving into the industry. Like you said, it provides good expertise and more welcoming to new members.

    • Anh Nguyen

Glad I can help, Chris! There are sure a lot of magic to SEO. 😉

  7. Imad

    Hi there, Anh.

I always enjoy how clean and great the design of your website. Awesome work and the way you lay out the content is very inviting as well.

The SiteComment feature inside Wealthy Affiliate is a very handy tool and a work of art. I’m using it every day to give life to my pages and blog posts.

It’s an excellent way to interact with more people, see what they’re doing with their business and help them out. And I am always glad to receive more than I requested.

    Keep it up, dude.

  8. Hi Anh,
I actually stumbled across you in WA, saws your pic and thought you look familiar. I don’t know if you live in Chicago though. I started reading your posts on there to see if I could get a clue on that, but instead got hooked and followed links and read this entire article along with almost every link you had in here. Each link was even a great choice to teach the lesson you were trying to convey.

Thank you very much for reminding me of several things that I’d read before, but your wording and examples seem to make things click for me now. I’d love for you to check out my blog and give me some feedback, more so on the content.

I’ve noticed recently the difference in my writing as I’ve been blogging a few months now and reading more and more about it.

Thank you for a wonderful job.
    – Lynn

    • Thanks Lynn, I am happy to meet a fellow WA member on the blog! I am from Vietnam, actually. And yes, I’d love to check your blog out.

      Have a wonderful day!

  9. Anh, thanks so much for your wisdom in blogging! I love how this site is formatted and It really seems like Wealthy Affiliate is the way to go for bloggers! As a blogger, I have seen a lot of websites and I really like what you have going on! Keep it up my man! I am going to go get some comments now!

    • Thanks Billy. It’s a pleasure to meet you. 😀

Being able to get comments before you are able to build an audience is a real gift.

  10. Christine

This is a very detailed account of Wealthy Affiliate and the resources needed to build a blog and get visitors. Trust is very important when building a business and getting visitors and comments on your blog is one of the ways to show Google you have authority in your niche.

    • Anh Nguyen

Couldn’t agree with you more, Christine.

  11. Ladrunner

So far I’ve written around 17 posts, and I’ve only gotten 5 comments. The comments tool is a great tool that I’m definitely going to be utilizing more. One thing that seems interesting was how you got more comments than you asked for. I think I’m going to ask for more questions per post as it seems the higher you ask the more comments you get extra.

    • Anh Nguyen

I am not sure about asking questions but you definitively get a lot of extra comments, Ladrunner. I am glad you found this SiteComment feature, it definitively helps a deal. 😉

  12. Dkaning

    Hey Anh!

I truly loved your information about blogging! As you mentioned earlier, blogging is truly one of the ways an average person can make tons of money. Also, I like your honesty when you talked about being an affiliate for Wealthy Affiliate and getting commissions. Not too many bloggers would be this open and honest. Nice job and I wish you all the best. 🙂

    • Anh Nguyen

Blogging can take time but I believe it’s worth it at the end of the day, Dkaning.

I guess I like to have a clear conscience and feel better giving values to others than hidding around bushes. 🙂

  13. stefan

Hi Ahn! I think there is no internet marketing platform out there who provides you with such a great and innovative way to get comments.

People always talk about the importance of engagement in our websites but honestly, it is very difficult to get that engagement if you are working on your website for a few months, where your organic traffic is still very low.

The comment’s section at Wealthy affiliate is one of the most important aspects of getting support from the community.

I have experience something really positive in my website. When I get tons of comments from WA community, my organic visits increases as a result and I know for sure that it played a big role!

So, thanks for making people aware of such a great tool inside Wealthy Affiliate. This is another strong reason to become their member.

    All the best,

    • Anh Nguyen

Definitely, Stefan. Having such good user interaction helped me present myself better with other more experienced bloggers as well. WA doesn’t advertise this function much but it’s truly one of a kind and it works seamlessly well. 😉

  14. David

This article is absolutely brilliant! I’ve read it from beginning to end! Bloggers tend to underestimate the power of comments. Comments are crucial in building your blog’s reputation and trust. And you highlight one of Wealthy Affiliate’s most powerful feature. Now you can set up a blog and have comments right away, even if you don’t have any visitors yet, which is priceless!

    • Anh Nguyen

Definitely, David. It helps a lot with how you look in the eyes of others as well. 🙂

  15. Riaz Shah

    Nicely written Anh!

The Site Comment feature is really awesome and I could totally vouch for that. I remember the time when I used to pay $5 on fiverr for 3 comments which was a ridiculous amount as we’re practically paying that much just for comments which weren’t even engaging but now, I’m glad I found WA and its Site Comment feature. You can get thrills just thinking about it. 😀

    • Anh Nguyen

That’s a pretty high price for 3 comments, Riaz!

Glad you found Wealthy Affiliate. 🙂

  16. Tasos Perte Tzortzis

Hello there Anh, indeed comments are among the most important factors for any website.Engagement with the visitors is the ultimate goal for bloggers. You displayed the benefits really well.

There are way too many blogs out there and I believe this number will continue to grow in the near future.

Very nice explanation on the Site Comment feature of WA. I can see you are satisfied with that service. Do you think there is anything missing from this comments platform?

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you, Tasos. I actually like the simplicity of Wealthy Affiliate’s SiteComments so there is not much I want to add. If it were left to me, I would improve on its’ speed, fix bugs and improve usability. 🙂

  17. Max

Very Clean looking Site! If I wasn’t already plugged into the Wealthy Affiliate Building community it would make me want to join. Great content and information. Great Images!

One thing I did notice, I quite wasn’t sure how to navigate on the site. To move from a post back to Home…. wasn’t able to see it very clearly. A little bit hard to find. Maybe use more contrasting colours? Might just be a me and my eyesight…. 🙂

Well done and all the very best to you and yours!

    • Anh Nguyen

Max, I am honoured by your praises. I will be sure to check the navigation. Cheers!

  18. Melody

Now there’s some great information! I agree 100%. Getting comments is hard. I will admit that I have read a lot of blogs that have interested me, yet never bothered to leave a comment and I know I am not alone. Yet to help your rank Google wants to see comments! We can’t beg our visitors to comment but we can give them a push by having others provide helpful and meaningful comments.

It is clear that what you are doing is helping. This post currently has 72 comments and I bet it will grow.

    Great information!

    • Anh Nguyen

Yes, Melody, around 90% of readers only skim. Thanks a lot for the nice words!

  19. Richard H

I was just searching online for a way to get more comments and I think you hit the nail on the head.

So this comment platform is only usable if I sign up for Wealthy Affiliate?

Also, what sort of websites will I be commenting on? Like if I’m not interested in the topic of the webpage how can I leave a comment? Are they jus randomly selected?

Sorry for all the questions thanks for the great post!

PS great post heading you had my attention right off the bat!

    – Richard

    • Anh Nguyen

Richard, this comment platform is usuable once you become part of WA.

About the pages you will comment on, they are from other members and you can choose categories like online marketing, parenting, gaming etc. according to your interests.

      Hope this helps!

  20. Branka

Hi Anh! I’ve read this post few days ago and I totally got what you were writing, it is on me and I have to put some effort in comments in order to use their benefits. I made a program, beside the rest – giving 10 comments a day and it is working! I am so happy! Thank you!

    • Anh Nguyen

      Branka, happy to hear!

  21. Shawn

I am very impressed with your results so far, but I know they can be achieved as I am also a member at Wealthy Affiliate and have been one going on 4 years now.

I will agree with you it is a place that can help you and even show you how to build your own successful business and it is every bit for real.

That being said I love your blog!

    • Anh Nguyen

Shawn, your comment made my day. It’s always a pleasure for me to share and learn!

      All the best!

  22. Hi Anh, first I want to thank you for such a wonderful post.

I am also a member of Wealthy Affiliate and recently came to know about SiteComment feature of WA.

Now this post gives me whole details how it works. I think you have given some additional details for building a blog site and how to write engaging contents for it.

I got something new picture in my mind by this post. So again thanks for great writing.

    – Santosh

    • Anh Nguyen

Santosh, I am pleased you learnt something new from this article. That’s what I am here for. 🙂

  23. Peter

    Hi Anh,
I really enjoyed reading this post. It’s true getting organic comments on a blog is difficult and you already having 148 comments in such a short time is awesome. Interesting to see the benefits you listed, I didn’t realize that comments were so important and the fact that 16% of Quicksprout search traffic come from comments shows how important it can be.
The comments platform at Wealthy Affiliate is a really great idea and shows that this a program that updates to keep up with the changes in the internet marketing world. Great idea to offer useful resources throughout your post.

    • Anh Nguyen

My pleasure, Peter. Not only is comments important for search engines and search traffic, it’s a great boost of motivation for bloggers as well.

  24. Vicky

Very good article. I was waiting for the punch line all the way through. Great way to build Wealthy Affiliate up. I found this place recently and working my way through boot camp. This is definitely the place to begin an online blogging, or marketing business. Thanks for your advice.

  25. John

Getting traffic to make comments is hard. I get maybe one a week if I do not use the WA board. As soon as I post a new blog I will go the the offer comments and give out as many as I have time for. Sometimes I can get back more than I have given. The steps provided make sure that most of your comments that you receive will be relative to the blog that you are asking for. It is pretty rare that I have to cancel a comment that has been given in this forum.
Several SEO masters have stated that this will give you more juice when Google looks at your blogs.

    • Anh Nguyen

I see what you mean, John. It’s indeed a great platform to get and receive genuine comments.

  26. Matt

    HI Anh,

First of all, great article. I’ve been thinking of more and better ways to get comments on my own site. I like the comments platform at Wealthy Affiliate and think its a great tool. I do have a quick question. How long after starting your blog did you start getting unique comments from people doing searches in Google?

    • Anh Nguyen

Matt, nice question there. I have to be honest that only around 1 – 5% of current comments are from else where than WA. I will updating more about my experience in later posts!

  27. Neil

    Hey, Anh

This article is right up my alley because I have always wondered how to get comments on my website, and you seem to be doing an awesome job, so you are definitely the person in the “know how.”

148 comments is a great achievement, and I’ve been struggling to get even a fraction of those on my blog, lol.

You have outlined 5 fantastic steps to building a blog and attracting comments, and I will be following your advice from now on. 🙂

    • Anh Nguyen

      Happy to help, Neil. 🙂

I think you are pretty much ahead to be willing to invest on your business. A lot of us are spoiled with the irational idea that we can make money on the internet for free unfortunately.

  28. Tony

This is some fantastic, very well written information on earning many quality comments.

What is more than clear is that it’s very much the case that you get what you put in if you want to achieve good interaction with your visitors.

What’s really great though is that there is the Wealthy Affiliate platform which helps you on your way!

Have the comments you’ve received all been from Wealthy Affiliate or have they helped you to organically receive comments yet?

    • Anh Nguyen

      Hi Tony,

Straight forward question, I like that. 🙂 I got most of my comments from WA still, only less than 5% of my comments are organic. I am working on building an audience and traffic for PerkProfit. From experience, I’d say it may take a while to build traffic for your blog in it’s first stage.

Traffic Generation Cafe has some pretty interesting statistics on the topic, once you write 21-54 blog posts, blog traffic generation increases by up to 30%.

  29. Megan

Nice, easy overview of how important comments can be to rankings, and getting your message out there. Like you said, using WA is an awesome tool to help get you where you want to go. Making money online can be simple – especially if you’re using WA, but it takes a lot of hard work and passion for whatever it is you’re passionate about. The site comment feature is so helpful in staying motivated because it helps you create momentum toward your ultimate goal every single day.

How much time would you say you spend earning comments for your bog in a typical day? Is that one of your biggest time investments as you’re building up your site?

    • Anh Nguyen

Megan, nice question. One a daily basis, I spent around 30 minutes to get 2 comments and request 1. One of my small issues now is replying to them… sometimes they piled up! This is just something I do everyday and not my biggest investment, I think it’s more important to concentrate on your blog’s content. Learn more about the blogging world and such. 🙂

  30. Tanya

Anh… all I can say is wow. This is a well written blog post, time well spent on it. Love your enthusiasm in this article. Kept me wanting to read this all the way through. I too am new at blogging, I have struggled trying to get comments. I have read some of your posts and looks to me like Wealthy Affiliate is the place to start. After reading your articles I feel I can trust the information you are providing, as well as reading other comments on here too. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will be bookmarking this site to learn more.

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you very much, Tanya. I am glad to meet another blogger. It can be pretty rough when you started out, Wealthy Affiliate can help you if you put in the time. All the best!

  31. NemiraB

Hello Anh. I understand why your blog attracts a lot comments. You offer a lot content here. People can learn here from your blog and at the same time they can get a taste of Wealthy Affiliate, best company for online training.
Your content is rich with examples, it is easy to catch what you write about.
People already get value from your blog. I wish that they could imagine how much they could receive if they would join Wealthy Affiliate.
You have a gift to provide information in a funny way, at the same time keeping attention on topic for your visitors.
I am glad that I found your website. There are so much to learn. All the best to you, happy writing, Nemira.

    • Anh Nguyen

Nemira, I am tickled pink by your praises. I imagine talking to a friend when I write, and I guess you don’t talk to your friend in a boring way, ha ha.

  32. Sal

This article makes getting comments on your site super simple. It’s down to earth, logical, and offers other links and tips to improve your blog. I’d love it if you could do an article on website feedback in addition to getting more traffic to your site. I think all the different platforms of social media your connected to helps greatly as well.

    • Anh Nguyen

Sai, website feedback seems like a rather small topic and I am not sure if it’s gonna fit in an article but I will consider it.

About social media, I’ve learnt it’s better to concentrate on only 1 – 2, or even none when you first started out because it’s quite a distraction and won’t be helpful at first. 🙂

  33. Thanks for the sharing. I think in order to get qualitative comments you need to have qualitative content for example like you have. You did tell your audience how to increase engagement which is a very important area of building a successfully online business. Also you shared good resources in this article which bring people more likely back to your site to check for new great content.

I also want to suggest not to use click here. You did that a few times in your article. It’s better for example saying Wealthy Affiliate is a great company and make a link from the word Wealthy Affiliate then saying click here to know more about Wealthy Affiliate.

I have a question related to your post if I place a profile picture now on gravatar like you did suggest will this picture then be placed on all earlier content I have placed on the internet?

    • I am flattered by your comment, Kevin. On top of that, you gave me good suggestions too! I think it’s gonna make PerkProfit more decent and professional if I just put the links and not say “click here”. I’ve edited some of the main links and will finish up when I have some free time.

About Gravatar, once you change it, all your previous posts’ avatars will change as well, it’s not so different from Facebook avatars and others.

      All the best!

I really liked your post and your website looks very professional! I enjoyed the fact that you shared your blogging experience and how hard it is to build an audience and get comments. It’s true that blogging isn’t an easy way to make money and that you must make it grow first, exactly like any other business. WA is definitely the besr place to learn!

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you for the kind words, I love to share and listen. 🙂

  35. kirk

I can attest to what you say is true. As I am too busy to work on my website at this time, I use the comment section as much as I can to keep my Google rankings up. That and the right keywords make all the difference until I can get back to work.

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you, Kirk. I know how hard it could be to work and juggle a side project. What I would recommend is keeping a schedule for yourself in order to stay in shape with your online business. Cheers!

  36. Vladimir

Hello Ahn. You did a great job in your site and you really know how to attract readers and make them leave comments for your site. A good site with quality content and lots of relevant comments makes it really look very trustworthy. It is very nice of you sharing this kind of information to everyone and me as a new blogger will also follow your advice.

Thanks and more power to you.

    • Anh Nguyen

Vladimir, I am thrilled to hear from you and wish you all the best with your blog!

  37. rufat

The idea of your post is great. In fact, it’s not easy to get comments on a blog that get traffic from search engines or social media. Even blogs that get 1000 visits a day don’t get many comments and it’s because most people don’t leave comments even if your blog is awesome. The only way to get many comments is to build your own list of subscribers, i.e. start getting comments from your loyal readers and this is exactly what top bloggers do on their blogs. But we can do the same on our part thanks to such a great community as Wealthy Affiliate that allows us to get quality comments and rank our sites higher in search engines. Good post, keep your great work.

    • Anh Nguyen

Rufat, great information you put out here. I am really considering adding this to the post, you definitely teach me some new things here about how traffics from search engines and social media doesn’t necessarily leave comments on your site. Now I am more grateful to be part of WA. 😉

  38. Lana Wealthy

    Hey Anh!
Wow! Brilliant! The way you explained just hooked me! How someone could pass up this opportunity? With a system like that, it’s impossible not to succeed!
I didn’t know how important the comments were for helping a website to rank. Your information is priceless and I’m pretty sure the smart one go for it! Thanks!

    • Anh Nguyen

Thanks, Lana. I am pleased to be able to provide you with information.

  39. Michael Hills

It makes total sense to me that comments are a huge plus for any blog. Google wants great content, and lots of comments prove that the content is worthwhile. You sold me on the idea, and on Wealthy Affiliate. Do you know how many comments it takes to get a better listing per page? Would you say 10 or 20 unique comments, excluding the answers? Would this be dependent on how competitive the keyword is?

    • Anh Nguyen

Hi Michael, interesting question. Google doesn’t tell you all it’s ranking factors, it is only said that “pages with lots of comments may be a signal of user-interaction and quality.” So the more quality comments, the better. Note that Google has another 199 other factors to rank your page, so only comment numbers may not able to help you rank. You can check out the full 200 Google ranking factors here (note that some of them are speculations). I hope this helps!

  40. Diana

That’s fantastic that you have received so many comments in such a short amount of time! I totally agree that when landing on a blog with no comments, I am less likely to leave a comment myself; as opposed to a blog post with several comments. It kinda lets me know that it’s an active post and I will be receiving a reply.

    Thanks for sharing your technique,

    • Anh Nguyen

Nicely said, Dana, and thank you. 🙂

  41. roamy

    Thanks for a wonderful post.

I’m new online and reading that you can attract so many comments so soon makes me feel l too can do it.

l do not know coding or any HTML but you make me feel confident that l can have a website without knowing HTML.

Finding site comments is what worry me, where will l find people to read my content? Do l ask family and friends to read and share?

    • Anh Nguyen

Hi Roamy, I understand your struggle. If you want organic comments, sharing with your friends and family at first is a good idea. In the long run though, you’d have to start building traffic to your site in order to have user interaction. I am also working to build traffic so I am not sure what are the best methods. The best method to attract comments I know is written in this post…

Here are great blogs about internet marketing that may help you out.

I’ll be updating my site and share more tips and tricks along the way. All the best!

  42. Simone

I just started a blog on my own and I really have no idea what I am doing. I have also read about how important it is to get comments, but unfortunately I do not have any.

I was hoping to avoid paying for comments, just like I don’t want to pay for traffic to my site.

However, what you say about Wealthy Affiliate makes it sound like much more than just a comment generating system. I will definitely check it out because it sounds like something that would help me with my site, not just comments.

    • Anh Nguyen

Nice to meet you Simone, I definitely get where you are coming from and I prefer not to buy comments/ traffics either. I take this SiteComment as a very nice bonus to Wealthy Affiliate but if given it’s a solo deal, I probably won’t touch it. It’s the idea of giving and taking comments that gets me, like offering my time for others and have them help me back.

The thing I like the most about WA is it’s driven and supportive community, which is the reason for the good quality comments. 🙂

  43. Mark

Hi Anh – Great post. I fully agree with you getting comments on your website/blog is essential for good Google ranking. I really like the way you have laid your post out. Stating the importance of comments then promoting Wealthy Affiliate, which is the best program on the Internet.

    Great job,

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you, Mark, I appreciate it. 🙂

  44. Lynne

    Hi Anh

I love this post! It is so true that gaining comments is hard, especially quality comments. I have a few websites and achieving interaction with my readers is always a goal.

As you say comments not only add new content to your website that could rank your website better, it also show Google that your content is quality.

    Kind Regards,

    • Anh Nguyen

      Thank you, Lynne! Good point.

  45. Chris

I’ve been running my blog for a while now and I’m still stuck on about 3 comments – and they are not exactly what I’d call quality comments ( two of them are surely left there for the purposes of a backlink! ).
I like this idea/function that you are covering here – I also like the fact that it comes with some free tutorials! I will be checking this out further!

    • Anh Nguyen

Yes, it may be tough at first, Chris. Feel free to poke me if you have any questions about Wealthy Affiliate, I will be happy to help. Cheers!

P.S. It’s good 1 of your comments are real. 🙂

      • Chris

I recently found out about the importance of comments – I actually think it may have been through reading this article a few weeks ago! I never realized that comments actually act as extra content on your page – Google sees it this way so they will end up ranking you higher! Really powerful stuff. 🙂

        • Awesome, man. 😀 I hope you got some steamy results out of that realization.

  46. Katrina V

Hi, I would like to say well done on this. The website looks fantastic! You have broken each page down into section which made it easier on the eyes and obviously to read. I also like your usage of pictures and other media. Personally I would give this a 10/10.

    • Anh Nguyen

That’s so nice of you, Katrina. Thank you. 🙂

  47. Evie

I agree that good quality comments is also important. It should be related to what the article states.

I feel that content is more important though if the article can help someone. Sometimes people will naturally write a comment.

Then again, lol, some people prefer to leave and read. As you showed with a high traffic blogs.

Building a business online is a competitive market, but very attainable with the correct tools and you laid out some great resources that people can use. Fantastic Article!

    • Anh Nguyen

Definitely, Evie. As a blogger it’s important to thrive to provide quality contents in order to build loyal audiences.

  48. Antoinette Ferreira

Thank you for this post. This was a great post for me to read as I now understand the value of comments and also the value of comments through Wealthy Affiliate. Thank you for explaining this so clearly. I will be very faithful in writing comments. I see that this is such an important part of the work to have a successful website.

    • Anh Nguyen

Nice to meet you, Antoinette. I am glad I can help. Quality comments does help with bringing you site to new heights for sure. Cheers!

  49. Kush1000

Hey! Great post you have created here. 🙂

I’m doing it right now! 🙂 For anyone reading this post, IT’S ALL VERY TRUE AND WORKS BEAUTIFULLY!

I’m sure many people will find this article useful and interesting as I did although I knew about this before.

Thanks for sharing this and have a great day!

    Cheers and good luck.

    • Anh Nguyen

Hi, great to hear from you. 🙂

      • Kush1000

It’s a good way of getting comments using WA, I have created the same post two weeks ago. 😉 Well, not the same but the same point. The point is that WA is AMAZING!

Thanks for sharing this and have a great day!
        Cheers and good luck.

  50. Paul

This is a great method for getting blog comments. It’s something I want to do myself because not only does it help build more trust with your visitors, but it can really help you rank higher in the search engines. It’s important and it’s something I’m committed to putting a good amount of time into.

    • Anh Nguyen

I can see why you’d do that, Paul. Though as mentioned, I don’t think this is a good method for the long run and recommend you spend more time on building organic traffic to your site. Cheers!

  51. Kae

What a great post – I will be clicking on links and reading for awhile yet!

Engaging readers and getting authentic comments is not always easy. I think that stepping out of your comfort zone a little, and allowing your readers to get to know you on a more personal level, encourages participation. This could be done through sharing personal stories, writing opinion pieces, or even tackling slightly more controversial topics than what you normally tend to post about. Of course, whether this will work or not depends on your niche.

    Thanks for a great article!

    • Anh Nguyen

Very nice tips, Kae. I hope I have helped you a little by pointing to useful ressources.

  52. andrejs

Anh Hello! Great, step by step set out material. Many already known resources, but repetition is never too much. By me a bit too long, but maybe because most of it already knew. Significance of comments? In two words is certainly good, but the comments have to be related and good quality.

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you. It’s a good sign you already know all of these. 🙂

  53. Rick Wilson

WOW Ahn!! You spent a lot of time putting that post together!! Excellent job and very comprehensive. The graphics you provided made it easily understandable along with your step by step instructions. The links you included point to some very good information as well. It is great that you included information for the person just starting out and for someone that already has a blog and how to import it into Wealthy Affiliate. I wish you best of luck in your endeavors.

    • Anh Nguyen

Thank you Rick! What you said means a lot to me. I try my best to to give the readers helpful information. I know how hard it is to start out… I am there too, my goal to create a friendly space to learn and share knowledges about developing online businesses. All the best!

  54. renan

    Hi Anh

I think a while not as simple or inexpensive to receive in your website unless there is daily or monthly limit for these comments that will definitely enable your post to better-ranked are interesting way. Could you please clarify the concern if there are any limitations or can I get as many comments I want it?

    • Anh Nguyen

Hi Renan, I haven’t seen any limitations so far. I do believe that you can get as many as you want so long as you comment on other blogs. But I don’t recommend being overly dependent on this method, because it will not do you good if you don’t take care of the comments you give away. Cheers!

  55. Maureen

When I first read the title of your article I was sure that you were going to give me some black-hat method of attracting comments. I am glad to see that is not the case.
You have pointed out the importance of comments on one site. It is something that Google likes to see. I think they also like the interaction that one has with the comments since this is your audience. One thing that I found on your site that I really liked was the fact that you do not accept just any old comment. I mean some comments are not that bad but they are so generic it could be put on any site. It is a lot of working getting the comments so to turn these comments down is a hard thing to do.
Keep up the good blogging and all the best to you.

    • Anh Nguyen

Ha ha… I think 148 doesn’t sound like much, it might for a new site, probably. About accepting comments, I haven’t refused any actually (except the filtered spams). I have heard some talking about comments that were too much like a site feedback or too general but it haven’t occurred to me. I do believe that if you spend time writing good feedbacks to others, they will come around to you as well. All the best!

  56. Chandra

Your post is really informative. I just started with WA and have been building out my pages. I just made it to the comments section and I was curious to know how well this platform works. I’m pretty excited after reading this post to know that it works really well.
I read through the rest of your site, and will definitely be checking out the marketing blogs that you mention.

    • Anh Nguyen

Nice to meet you Chandra. I am pleased that I can help you on your journey. I do think the SiteComments work great, do remember to work on developing your organic traffic as well. Cheers!

  57. Rob

Very lengthy and well written article. I like your casual and friendly writing style. That should help you with comments anyway. Looks like a good system you are promoting for people to improve their google friendliness and get better ranking in searches. Best of luck with your blog. Do you spend much time getting comment on this system?

    • Anh Nguyen

Hi Rob, I read a great advice some time ago and writing blog posts, and it goes like this:

Visualize your target audience. It will make your writing more personal. For example: when I write a post, I imagine I am talking to a single mom in her mid to late 20s.

It has helped me in realizing what I want to write like and who I want to write for. I think as a blogger it’s something one ought to think about. And I usually spend around 30 minutes per day writing 2 comments and request one… I actually take quite sometime to read and write (comments), ha ha.

  58. Akeim

This is some awesome information Anh! You are absolutely right, you will build more trust by engaging people and also with Google by interacting with comments.

Your article gives much detail for the reader and after that read should have a full understanding of what it takes to have a successful blog.

I will definitely be applying your advice!

    • Anh Nguyen

Akeim. I wish you all the best and hope I had helped you a little in your path. 🙂

  59. Hindy

Absolutely brilliant!! You had me hooked from the first word, and of course being new to this whole blogging thing, I was sure I hit paydirt with your article. You certainly know how to keep someone reading. I couldn’t wait to get to the end, but forced myself to read all the way through. What do I find? WA. Unbelievable. I already knew I was in the right place, and for anyone reading this, believe me, Wealthy Affiliate is the only help you’ll ever need.

    • Anh Nguyen

Hindy, your comment made my day. Thank you so much. I hope you all the best in your blogging journey, I hope to offer you more resources the next time you come around. Cheers!
